Case stories

Increasing department efficiency by 19%

With the implementation of INSIGHT in the Emergency Department a Danish hospital analyzed and evaluated the installation over the course of 19 months from June 2009 to January 2011. The results showed an increase in department efficiency of 19%. This was due to an increase in the number of patients by 7,03%, and a decrease in number of employees by 9,3%. Consequently, the number of patients per staff rose from 185 to 218 per year. In addition, 6.400 working hours per year were saved among hospital doctors and nurses who also experienced a number of benefits, such as increased patient safety, better overviews, reduced stress level, fewer disturbances, fewer phone calls, better data and easier location of colleagues.
AGVs by DS AUTOMOTION, Cleveland, USA

Cleveland Clinic has had 81 automated vehicles installed. The AVGs cover more than 1700 km everyday and transports linen, food, waste and medical equipment in their various destinations within the hospital. In this application, the use of the AGV has resulted in a harmonious goods transport over long distances without collisions. Previously, heavy rolling carts had to be moved via steep ramps. Now, the AGV does this work both in an ergonomical, safe and efficient way.
Mette Fjord Nielsen - Head nurse, Center for planned surgery - The Regional Hospital of Silkeborg

"Using Goloo's disposable bedpans and urinals we can reduce the risk of infection and pressure ulcers, which improves the patient's experience"
"Here at Daghospitalet we are very happy about the new solution and I've asked a few people and they are also very positive! It is easier to collect faeces from the toilet now ... without the use of paper plates, etc." Lene Neergaard Ass. Ward Gastrointestinal Unit, Herlev Hospital.

100HealthIdeas

In this nonprofit project, we focus on practical solutions that are worth sharing among clinicians and others who are interested in improving our healthcare. We believe in the effect of knowledge sharing without a political agenda, from clinics to clinics across hospitals, regions, sectors, and professions. In the project we identify, describe and share cases that have the following common characteristics: - Cases that benefit the patient - Cases that have not resulted in higher costs - Cases that have found solutions that both ensure a better quality of care and treatment while ensuring more efficient utilization of resources
OUH

The new Odense University Hospital (OUH) embodies an innovative building of high architectural quality, designed to meet the requirements and challenges of tomorrow. Like the goddess Aurora, the hospital finds renewal in the transition between old and new – and the conversion from tradition to modernity. The human scale supports the conception of the hospital as ”the good host” and a place where patients and visitors can easily orient themselves and feel at home. When approaching Aurora, you are met by an inviting and recognisable urban scale, where the complex is divided into varied units with each their clear entrance and reception area. The individual is in focus in the circular city structure whose ground plan meets the requirements for a highly efficient, flexible and future-proof hospital and at the same time meets the employees, patients and other users where they are and with a high degree of respect.
